Want to hear an interesting statistic? The ASPCA has recorded that about 7.6 million animals end up in animal shelters nationwide EVERY YEAR. All of these animals are looking for a loving family to take care of them and make them happy. The San Diego Humane Society, along with over 400 shelters in the US and Puerto Rico, are participating in Saturday’s Clear the Shelters Day, a day where specific shelters will discount adoption fees in order to “clear the shelters.” The one-day-only event was a success last year, with over 19,000 animals being adopted into their forever homes. We hope that this years’ event reaches over 20,000 adopted animals! We encourage any people looking for a new furry family member to visit your local shelter this Saturday, July 23rd, to help clear the shelters.
