DIY Cat Wrap

Ever wonder how to safely and efficiently wrap a cat? Wonder no more as the cheeky folks at FlippyCat have perfected the process!  We all know that cats love paper and better yet, crinkled paper, so for the most part, this patient little guy looks quite content in my opinion despite his mummified appearance mid-video….what do you think?

Cat Rides Train, Reunites with Owner Via Twitter

irish cat rides train Bright Lights, Lost Kitty

Lilou, a country cat with a hankering for the city lights was recently reunited with its owner after taking a trip to Dublin, Ireland on the DART – an Irish railway system.

Discovered by workers at the Pearse Street train station in Dublin, a quick-thinking DART employee, Iarnróid Éireann, sent out an appeal via Twitter seeking the owner of the cat. Éireann and other staff at the Pearse Street DART station kindly took care of the Lilou and used closed-circuit-tv footage to trace where she had begun her journey. Good thinking o' the Irish!

Luck o' The Irish Kitty

After the Twitter alert was sent out for the cat's owners, lucky Lilou was reunited with her owner Eric Bieci, who thanked everyone involved. Since Lilou technically dodged the railway fare, Lilou has been issued with a rail card (see above) for any future journeys she wishes to take.

How's that for a crazy adventure kitty!?

I Can Has Prenup: German Man Marries His Cat

german man marries cat
If you like her so much why don't you marry her? Oh, Okay.

After living together for ten years, a German man finally popped the question to his cat Cecilia and unofficially married her after the animal fell ill and vets told him she might not live much longer. German postal worker Uwe Mitzscherlich, 39, paid an actress to officiate at the ceremony, as marrying an animal is illegal in Germany.

Mr Mitzscherlich said he had wanted to tie the knot before his asthmatic cat Cecilia died.

They are registered at Petsmart, Crate & Barrel and Walmart. I am thinking I might get them a couples therapy session with Victoria Stilwell.

I Now Pronounce You Man and Cat

"Cecilia is such a trusting creature. We cuddle all the time and she has always slept in my bed," Mr Mitzscherlich, a postman from the eastern town of Possendorf, told the German media.

Actress Christin-Maria Lohri, who officiated the ceremony, was quoted as saying: "At first I thought it was a joke. But for Mr Mitzscherlich it's a dream come true".

Ok folks, I love my pets and all – but what do you think about these nuptials: Wonderfully Sweet or Wonderfully Whacked?

Feline Faceoff: Standing Cat vs. Chopsticks Cat

Move over Keyboard Cat  - Standing Cat Has Arrived

We've all seen cats and dogs standing up on their hind legs, but the newest internet phenom, "Standing Cat," takes the prize as most agile as he (she?) stands up to be counted for not just a few seconds, but for what seems like a whole minute (ok – maybe 45 seconds).  Add to his stand-up performance a backdrop of random French Pop music and you've got yerself an official piece o'  YouTube gold!

But wait? What's that? Standing Chopsticks cat wants to weigh in? Check out both of their videos below and you decide who's got the most kitty core strength and dexterity! For a whole slew of the best "standing cat videos", check out what our friends over at Urlesque assembled for your viewing pleasure.

A Site to See: Stuff on My Cat

Screen shot 2010-04-01 at 6.15.56 PM Stuff you never thought of placing on your cat. Until now.

For reasons unknown, select homo sapiens have developed a propensity for placing random (and ideally lightweight) found objects on their sleeping cats (or nearly asleep cats). These objects range from toaster cozies, pineapple rinds, Garfield stuffies, McDonald's French Fries, dirty dishes and naturally, more cats.

Stuff + Your Cat = Awesome

For those of you that just can't get enough of this concept, the website Stuff on My Cat is dedicated solely to random crap you might place on your cat. In fact the site has become so popular that they have broken Stuff on My Cat down into more categories than thought possible, such as:

Naughty Stuff On My Cat
Nature On My Cat
My Cat On Stuff
My Actual Cat
Misc. On My Cat
Housewares On My Cat (a favorite!)
Gadgets On My Cat
Food On My Cat
Creatures On My Cat
Clothes On My Cat
Business On My Cat
Tech On My Cat
Wet Cats

Hilarious Video: Cat with Mad Roomba Riding Skillz

Roomba-wrangling Cat Harasses Pudgy Pitbull

Just when you thought you'd seen everything, a game-changing gem comes along that can only be described as one of the most preposterous videos ever involving a cat, a dog, a bath mat, a trashcan and a household appliance, in particular  -  the mechanical innovation that is the Roomba.

Apparently there are many Roomba-riding videos floating around in the ether, one of which includes sleeping kittens unceremoniously being flung off a Roomba – brought to my attention courtesy of The Washington Post. However this little jewel is cinematically different in that no animals were harmed or humiliated in the making of this film (…except maybe for the dog who get bitch slapped).

Cat Got Game – Team Kitty Roomba: 1, Team Dog: Zero.

My favorite thing about this video, shot by my new BFF, Texas Pitbull Sharky, is that not only does the cat hop on the Roomba without any coercion, but he confidently dominates the Roomba like a cowboy astride his steed. Even when the Roomba runs headlong into the bathroom wall, this crazy cat maintains his game face and casually hangs on, managing to harass his brother Sharky with a snarky drive-by swipe.

I wonder if this cat does windows?

Top Cat: Persian Puff Ball Wins 2009 Best in Show

Kuorii Gorilla of Cuzzoe

Did that furry toss pillow just meow at me?

The puffiest, poofiest, uber-fluffiest Persian cat you have ever seen in your life scratched out 650 other entries to land the coveted "Best in Show" prize at this year's "Catlanta" – the CFA International Cat Show in Atlanta held just last week. At only eight months old, Kuorii Gorilla of Cuzzoe (right) – nicknamed "Go Go" at home – is being touted as a "superb example of the Persian breed,” due to his massive bone structure, a round and smooth head, and over-the-top fluffy coat.

When I first spotted this cat on CNN last night, it looked like the handler was petting some kind of fur throw or toss pillow – this cat is HUGE!

Other finalists included a platinum Tonkinese male called "Purrtek's Syrah", a silver and white American Shorthair called "KCDancers Eye-of-the-Tiger", a Maine Coon called "Highlander Tony Bennett of Wenlock", and a Burmese cat called "Mar-chu Electra of Karleton".

Cat Agility Tourney?

In addition to the best in show contest, the International Cat Show also featured a kitty agility course which you simply have to see to believe. Check out the video below, and to learn more about Persian cats visit Cats 101 on Animal Planet.
