We’re excited to announce our attendance at the 8th Annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon + Beach Day on Sunday, September 8th at the Del Mar Dog Beach! This event is primarily a surf competition for dogs that raises funds for orphaned animals at Helen Woodward Animal Center, but there will also be bunches of other activities for all attendees to participate in. Festivities kick-off at 8AM and run until 2PM.
Surf Dog is a fantastic opportunity for friends, family and dogs to come together for a day of fun, sun and surf, all to benefit beloved animals. Two-legged and four-legged attendees can choose to either hit the waves and participate in the surf competition or watch the action from the beach where there will be games, a costume contest, food and more. There is a $35 fee for dogs to participate in the surf competition and $35 fee for people. To participate in the Beach Bum Costume Contest there is a $10 donation.
Judy Fridono, a Top Surf Dog Fundraiser shared that “Although some see this event as a competition, the animals awaiting their fate see us as their last chance at survival… It’s as easy as asking your family, friends, and co-workers to donate at least a buck. It’s as easy as posting a request on Facebook, Twitter and other social media!” For more information about Surf Dog and the ways to get involved, visit www.surfdog.kintera.org.
We’ll be partnering with Ruffwear at the event, selling performance dog gear built to enhance outdoor adventures for dogs and humans. On Saturday September 7th, the day before Surf Dog, Ruffwear will also be visiting our Solana Beach store where they’ll be showcasing their merchandise from 10AM – 4PM.
Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon is presented by Helen Woodward Animal Center and Blue Buffalo. Helen Woodward Animal Center is a private, non-profit located in Rancho Santa Fe, CA where people help animals and animals help people, and Blue Buffalo is a leading manufacturer of all-natural dog and cat products.
We hope to see you and your four-legged friends over the weekend!
